Father of Toddler Left on Hot Bus Revealed How His Brave Daughter Survived

Following the release of photographs of the toddler recovering in hospital, the father of Nevaeh Austin, who was left on a hot childcare bus for six hours, has responded.

On Wednesday night, Nevaeh Austin had just a five percent chance of survival after being airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital with critical injuries.

However, by Friday, the toddler had woken up and communicated with her family and was pictured sleeping calmly in a hospital bed.

Her kidneys were failing and doctors sought a deep brain scan to determine the extent of the damage caused by the situation.

The father explained that the three-year-old only survived because it’s autumn and not the sweltering heat of a Queensland summer.

In an interview, father Shane Austin told A Current Affair “She‘s doing well. Doing well. Very well, to be honest.”

“Bit sooky, I would be too. But other than that, She’s happy, really happy. Moving around. Being herself.

“I was praying for the best but … yeah, expecting the worst.”

“I didn’t even get a phone call, mate. And I want to know why,” he added. “I want to know why there’s all these people walking past her.”

Nevaeh grandmother Pamela Parker also shared the amazing news with ABC saying “To see her yesterday afternoon on FaceTime, happy and then last night eating ice cream, being cheeky,” she said.

“There are no words that I can maybe find to describe the feeling, how I felt when I saw her the first time yesterday and last night, it was just amazing.

“My baby little girl she’s a fighter.”
