A British diver, Simon Nellist, was tragically mauled to death by a great white shark at a nearby swim spot in February.
Nellist was training for the Malabar Ocean Swim charity event at the time of his death.
The incident resulted in the closure of 14 beaches for many days.
Along the coast, fifteen shark alarm devices known as SMART drumlines were erected to alert authorities of a shark in the area and attempt to tag the animal.
