An Entire Aussie Town Has Gone Underwater While Relentless Downpours Cause Yet Another Devastation

The Bureau of Meteorology has said that the wet weather event battering Queensland’s south-east will “linger longer” than anticipated.

Emergency flooding warnings have been issued in six locations across Queensland, with roads and homes at risk.

Today was expected to be the “peak” of the weather system, which has wreaked havoc throughout Queensland’s outback, far north, and now the south.

Around Gympie, Lockyer Valley, Warwick, Millmerran, Mount Tarampa, Minden, Patrick Estate, Stanthorpe, and the Scenic Rim there are warnings in effect.

“This is an evolving situation,” a Bureau spokesperson told reporters.

“That weather is likely to stay around today, and into tomorrow, tomorrow is now and we will start to see the clearing trend.”

Flooding has been reported in Gabbin and Laidley, according to the State Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

A creek near Laidley, in Lockyer Valley, south of Brisbane, flooded this morning, affecting about 300 homes.

At 3 p.m. yesterday, rescue operations were launched on three occasions and 150 calls for assistance were received by the SES.

Laidley Creek has broken its banks near Mulgowie, posing a serious safety risk to people’s homes and businesses.

The town will be one of the most severely impacted today, according to a senior Bureau forecasting official.
