Andrew Symonds’ Last Text Message Revealed

May 16, 2022

The last text message sent by Andrew Symonds before his fatal car accident has been revealed, demonstrating the Australian cricketer’s amiable disposition never waned.

On Saturday evening, Mr Symonds was traveling alone with his two dogs in his car outside Townsville. Mr Symonds lost his life after his car rolled, and both of his dogs survived.

He is survived by his wife Laura and their children Billy and Chloe.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Fox Sports Executive Director Steve Crawley was contacted by Symonds a few hours before the accident.

Symonds had sent Crawley a screen capture of an article about Tom Brady’s staggering $540 million broadcasting contract with Fox Sports in the United States, which he had obtained from Twitter.

“Crawls, we need to talk. Roy,” Symonds messaged alongside the screenshot.

Crawley response was a laughing emoji.

“I’d like to remember him as a nice guy, because that’s what he was,” Crawley told The Daily Telegraph.

“He was a great Australian character, sort of like an outback hero like the Crocodile Hunter, but real.”

Crawley told Fox Sports, “Andrew Symonds was one of a kind.

“We awake to this shocking news and our deepest sympathies are with his wife Laura, two children and all of his work mates and dear friends throughout Fox Sports and the Cricket fraternity.”
