A 19-month-old girl has died after being discovered unresponsive in a river on the NSW North Coast.
At about 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, authorities were called to Palmers Island, 55 kilometers north of Grafton, to report the child as missing.
Police began an extensive hunt for the young girl in the property and neighboring areas, as well as a rescue operation before she was discovered unresponsive in the Clarence River.
Police continued CPR until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and transported her to Maclean Hospital.
However, the infant was unable to be revived.
An investigation has been launched in order to figure out what happened.
The investigations are still underway, and a report will be submitted for the Coroner’s consideration.
