Tjay Robert Doeblien, a father of three, was shot and killed by cops after an altercation in Ipswich.
On Sunday afternoon, Police were called to an incident on Earnest Street in One Mile, where the 27-year-old is accused of threatening others and refusing to drop his weapon.
According to authorities, they tried conversing with Doeblien for an hour before resorting to their guns as a “last resort.”
Witnesses said a woman who was with him fell to her knees screaming as they heard four rounds fired around 12:30 p.m.
Doeblien was treated at the site but did not survive.
His family is now questioning if his death could have been avoided.
Queensland Assistant Commissioner David Cuskelly on Sunday described the occurrence as a “tragedy” and said the cops who were involved had made numerous attempts to communicate.
